Any advice on getting your own logo added to the headstock? What format file are they looking for (presumably not something drawn on the back of a napkin), and what about the available space on the headstock/image shrinking/blurring etc.
From what I’ve read, customizations increase the chances of your order getting messed up so am just weighing up the pros and cons as well here.
“CHIBSON” would kind of be hilarious. I would do it though, but I don’t know if they’d take offense or what. It’d be what it is, and no one would be angry at you (at least in the states, they might think it’s funny) and it’d be even funnier if it was awesome and blew away the real ones. You totally should.
If not, then just a cool design, or something that is totally out of place, like VOLVO or something. I bet if it said Harley, people would want to pay you thousands for it.
Make it say Dolce and Gabanna or something silly like that. But if you want it to be original, just do a cool design or pattern.
I seriously vote for “CHIBSON” though. If I ever get another, that’s what I will get. Real Talk.
If you do Chibson, and do it in the Gibson script, I’d still be worried about it being confiscated…. Either via mistaking what was said on the logo by customs or then claiming it was so similar it was still a trademark violation. Or that it would cause them to scrutinize the guitar further and find other things they take issue with (headstock shape, body shape, Gibson stickers and paperwork in the package that you didn’t even expect to be there… etc….).
