I would like to welcome you to the website for the China Guitar Sceptic, which I hope you will find interesting, informative and helpful.
I’m foremost a writer, producer, creator, musician and player. I’ve been playing and writing on piano since 1980 and guitar since 1985 and still love to play whenever I get the opportunity. With a busy family life and all the fun of three children I don’t play as often as I might otherwise but that’s all good, family comes first. When I do play or find time in the studio it tends to be to make YouTube videos for you lovely people or to jam with my buddies in various bands and projects.
First and foremost I consider myself a songwriter and my playing and skill level has necessarily had to be reflective of that. Like most of you reading, I play for my own enjoyment and to be creative and not to take over the world with the most blistering shred. However lately I have been very much more active in trying to rekindle some of the skill set I had at age 19 when I was playing daily and gigging multiple times per week.
Most weeks I am able to release content of some sort on YouTube, but I do still work a full time job and also run two other business interests, so this is not always possible. My content ranges from reviews and demos of equipment to interviews and also release of my own compositions. I was fortunate enough to be invited and attended Guitcon 2018 and as a result I made lots of new friends in the guitar, manufacturing and recording communities.
If there is any content you would like to see me cover or even if you would like to work with me on something as a collaborator or companies needing someone to demo and review things, then I am always very open to being contacted on email@example.com
Given my efforts in 2013 and 2014 in releasing content dispelling many of the myths and misconceptions about Chinese counterfeit guitars, I feel compelled draw your attention to the fact that I, this site and any affiliated social media site seeks in no way to promote, sell or encourage the purchase of any items that infringe any manufacturers trademarks. I always have been and remain 100% against the theft or infringement of intellectual property and trademarks.
However I would also like to point out that my apparent hypocrisy (in buying some to show the faults) is moot, when you consider that while counterfeiting and selling of counterfeit items is illegal in most countries, in almost all, it is not illegal to buy or own such goods, merely at the moral and ethical discretion of the buyer. In that respect, areas of the CGS website still dedicated to exposing the fake trade, seek only to provide those with an interest in guitars made in China with the best advice and honest guidance on the good the bad and the downright ugly truth about them. All information shared on this channel by the creator (not forum posts by third parties) is, as far as I can be sure, one hundred percent factual and where we can’t be sure all opinion or conjecture is explicitly stated. All forum posts are the opinion of the poster only and are neither endorsed nor confirmed by their inclusion on this site.
CGS will always encourage you to avoid buying counterfeit products and through Milton Guitars Channel also sought to provide a real alternative. We hope that you will respect the intent in making the shared forums, this website and my old China Guitar YouTube videos – helping you to make informed decisions based on facts and the truth.
CGS is entirely independent and receives no sponsorship, support, backing or funding from any guitar manufacturer, distributor or outlet.
Please keep your comments balanced and polite as all profane or abusive postings will be immediately deleted and the poster blocked from the forums and site. If you don’t feel that you can abide by this simple request then please just keep your thoughts to yourself. Thank you.
